Top 15: Knipp

On Thursday evening, Newport Harbor Field Hockey senior Delaney Knipp was honored as one of the top student athletes from Newport Harbor, Corona del Mar, and Sage, for athletic and academic achievements, as well as community involvement, at the 58th Annual Athletic Awards Dinner. Special guest speaker, Chris Duplanty, three time olympian and silver medalist for water polo, offered four pieces of advice for the student athletes. The advice included the following points: remember who you are, believe in yourself, keep learning, and be responsible with what you have.

Top 15: Sheldon

On Wednesday evening, Newport Harbor Field Hockey senior Sarah Sheldon was honored as one of the top student athletes from Newport Harbor, Corona del Mar, and Sage, for athletic and academic achievements, as well as community involvement, at the 57th Annual Athletic Awards Dinner. Special guest speaker, Tom Telesco, general manager of the Los Angeles Chargers, delivered a speech about the importance of academics and commitment.

On Thursday evening, Newport Harbor Field Hockey seniors Jackie Singer and Katie Hendrix were among the top student athletes from Newport Harbor, Corona del Mar, and Sage, honored for their athletic and academic achievements, as well as community involvement, at the 56th Annual Athletic Awards Dinner. Special guest speaker, three-time Olympic swimmer Aaron Piersol, spoke about the importance of loving what you do and staying composed in all circumstances. Top 15: Kirsten Rohan

Congratulations to Kirsten Rohan for being recognized as one of the top 15 Student Athletes at NHHS at the 52nd annual Athletic Awards Breakfast on last Tuesday morning. Jim Abbot, a former star professional baseball player, was the speaker and “talked about the importance of community and the people who helped become a pro who threw a no-hitter for the Yankees in 1993 and won an Olympic gold medal in 1988.” Click here to read the full Daily Pilot article.

On Thursday morning, seniors Courtney McIntosh and Sophie Evans were among the thirty student athletes from Newport Harbor and Corona del Mar honored for their athletic and academic achievements, as well as community involvement, at the 51st Annual Athletic Awards Breakfast. Special guest speaker, Misty May, a Newport Harbor High School graduate, gave an inspirational message and shared about her experiences as a two-time Olympic gold medalist and the winningest female beach volleyball player. Thank you to the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce for hosting such a special event to recognize the student-athletes.

Sophie Evans – The field hockey standout helped lead the Sailors to three straight Tournament of Champions titles. As a senior, the team captain was named the TOC MVP and first-team All-Sunset League honors. The 3.97 GPA student was a Daily Pilot Athlete of the Week and helped Newport to an OC Championships title.

Courtney McIntosh – McIntosh, a three-year girls’ varsity field hockey player, played a vital role to Newport Harbor winning its fourth consecutive Los Angeles Field Hockey Association Tournament of Champions title. She was named to the all-tournament team and earned the Sunset League Most Valuable Defensive Player award. McIntosh, who has a 4.32 GP, is bound for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
