Summer Camp at USD

For the past two summers a number of Newport Harbor Field Hockey players traveled to Stanford University and UC Berkeley to participate in Field Hockey Summer Camps. This year, we are planning to send a group to the field hockey camp at University of San Diego, July 13 – 16.

The Nike Field Hockey Camp at the University of San Diego will focus on basic and advanced skills, position play, field hockey fundamentals and team strategy. This high tempo skills camp provides technical teaching and “new” skill development, in a fun yet competitive environment. Players are trained individually in all of the major fundamental areas of the game: hitting, 1v1 elimination skills, passing, scoring and defensive skills. Participants experience a combination of skill development and game play situations in an intensive format with multiple repetition. Participants stay in the dorms and eat meals together on campus at the University of San Diego.

The Newport Harbor Field Hockey Boosters is working out a way to help lower the cost of the camp; the amount discounted will depend on how high the interest level is. If you are interested and able to commit to that time frame, please email newportharborfieldhockey@gmail.com by this Friday, April 28. For more information on the camp, click here.

Spring Training

Spring Training will be offered to all returning Newport Harbor Field Hockey players from May 15 – June 15. Spring Training will be on Mondays and Thursdays on turf at Bonita Creek from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. The bus will leave from NHHS at 1:50 p.m. and will arrive back at 4:15 p.m. Those who participated in spring sports may use Spring Training to complete their PE credit for the semester.

Banquet 2016

The 2016 Newport Harbor Field Hockey Banquet was a huge success! It was a fabulous celebration of the 2016-2017 season and our ability to go with the flow. A big thank you to the Banquet Committee for all that you did to make it such a lovely evening.

We will have each team get together after the Thanksgiving holiday to reconnect and hand out memory books.
