Program Wide
– We had a great fundraiser on Saturday for Ding Dong Dollars! Thank you to all of the parents who were involved with planning, driving, and lunch afterward to help raise support for the program! A makeup day will be announced soon for those players who were unable to come.
– We fixed the PayPal link for the player contribution: NHFH Player Contribution – $375
– Uniforms were handed out at practice last Wednesday. Click here for more information on care instructions.

Uniform Care Instructions

Newport Harbor Field Hockey players received their field hockey uniforms today! Our uniforms are an iconic element of the program, having been worn by Newport Harbor Field Hockey players for decades…literally! Please handle them with care by following the instructions below and plan to return them in excellent condition at the end of the season.
The uniform distributed consists of a plaid skirt, a white home jersey, a navy away jersey and a practice jersey. In addition, your player will need:
  • plain white socks to fit over shin guards
  • plain navy blue socks to fit over shin guards
  • navy blue spandex shorts
  • colored mouth guard (they may not be clear or white)
  • field hockey regulation shin guards
  • field hockey regulation protective eyewear/goggles (Option to do a $25 deposit to NHHS Girls Field Hockey Boosters to borrow a pair from the bin for the year.)
Skirt Care Instructions:
  • Do not change the length of the skirt by cutting the material or sewing the hem.  If you have an issue with skirt length, please contact your team parent.
  • You may move the buttons along the waistband to adjust the fit.  Other than this, please do not alter your skirts.
  • Machine wash on cold.
  • Hang dry (preferred) or tumble dry on low.
Polo Shirt Care Instructions:
  • Machine wash on cold.
  • Do not use fabric softener.
  • Try not to bleach.  If necessary, use non-chlorine bleach only.
  • Soak in Oxiclean before laundering to remove sweat stains.
  • Do not iron.
  • Do not dry clean.

The 2018 Field Hockey season is here! This is the first Stix Weekly of the season. Each week there will be a post with everything you’ll need to know for the upcoming week and near future (as best as we can predict). There will be a ‘Program Wide’ section as well as individual team sections. These are our best laid plans for the week, so please be aware that information is always subject to change.

Program Wide

– Uniforms will be handed out at practices on Wednesday. Please be sure to take care of them and follow the wash instructions that will be given with the uniform.

– If you are interested in a backpack or a yard sign, these must be pre-ordered by Friday, August 24. To order an embroidered field hockey backpack for $70, click here to pay and email the order information to Rene Baldwin at rene6544@att.net. To order a yard sign for $25, click here and email the order information (from the Registration, Contribution and Merchandise Form Attached) to Rene Baldwin at rene6544@att.net.

Last Day of Tryouts

One last reminder that the final day of tryouts will be held at the following times at Davidson Field:

New Players – 8:00 – 9:30 a.m.

Returning Players – 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Thank you to all players for your participation in the Newport Harbor Field Hockey Summer Camp and Newport Harbor High School Field Hockey Tryouts. Teams for the 2018 season will be posted no later than 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8.

Summer Camp

It has been a great week of field hockey for the new players and junior highers! Next week is the second week of camp for new players and returners begin their training. For those players who decide to tryout for Newport Harbor Field Hockey, here is the information for tryouts at Davidson Field:

Friday, August 3

End of School Year

As the school year comes to an end, here are a few things to make note of. **Please make sure to make note of the tryout schedule! Thanks to all for another great year of Newport Harbor Field Hockey and a big congratulations to our graduating seniors! The Boosters and Coaches are busy planning for the coming season and are excited for all that is to come!

CIF Female Athlete of the Year
Congratulations to Sarah Sheldon for winning CIF Female Athlete of the Year at Newport Harbor High School! Sarah was recognized at the Senior Awards Banquet on Wednesday night for the way she represents the CIF Victory with Honor Principles.

The 2018/2019 Tryout Schedule is as follows:

SAT/PSAT/ACT Planning
– If you are signing up for the SAT in the fall, please take it on October 6 as we do not have any tournaments scheduled. November 3 is a major conflict if we are in TOC Playoffs.
– The PSAT falls on Saturday, 10/13 where we have a tournament scheduled. Please sign up for the PSAT that will be given at Estancia on Wednesday, 10/10.
– If you are signing up for the ACT in the fall, please take it on October 27 as we do not have any tournaments scheduled.
