Post-Season Field Hockey

Some notes on Post-Season Field Hockey:

– Pre-LAX has been postponed until a coach is hired, all pre-LAX players will report to post-season field hockey until further notice.
– If a player is planning on participating in Track in the Spring, Coach Tweit requires that they participate in pre-track. Please contact Amanda if you need to make a change from post-season field hockey to pre-season track.
– Post-Season Field Hockey will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on campus at Newport Harbor (a more specific place, TBA). The first practice will be on the Monday following the banquet: November 21. Please bring the $30 contribution, running shoes, shin guards, mouth guard, goggles, field hockey stick, and water.
– Questions? Contact Coach Amanda Boyer.

Winter Sports

As the Newport Harbor Field Hockey season comes to an end, the girls must report where they will be heading for PE credit to Coach Amanda on Tuesday, November 1.

This year, Field Hockey will be offered as an off-season sport from November through the end of January to complete the semester PE credit. The girls will be responsible for attending two days a week – Monday and Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. The location is still being determined. Since the district does not financially support off-season or pre-season for field hockey, there will be a $30 contribution per player. Off-season will begin on Monday, November 14.

Other options include pre-track, soccer, basketball, and pre-season lacrosse. Those players who are planning to go to pre-season lacrosse will participate in off-season field hockey until pre-season lacrosse dates are announced.

Juniors and Seniors: Since the Field Hockey season is only half of a semester, you must transfer to something to complete your PE credit. If you do not transfer somewhere, the district does not give 2.5 credits, so you will not receive credit for the field hockey season.

F/S Game Update

Unfortunately Edison had to cancel the Frosh/Soph game on Friday because they have soccer tryouts, but Newport Harbor Field Hockey will still hold a game – against ourselves! The girls will all get to play most of the game (each team will only have one sub!) and it will be fun to get them playing a game at Harper. Be sure to come out and cheer them on! The game will be at 3:30 p.m. at Harper.

F/S & JV – San Diego

The Newport Harbor JV & Frosh/Soph Field Hockey teams are traveling to La Mesa, CA this weekend to compete in the JV Highlander Cup.

The girls must bring both uniforms, both sock colors, and all equipment needed for the games. They should also bring a lunch and snacks, or money to purchase something.

We will meet at the Harper School Parking Lot and depart at 6 p.m. We will stop in Oceanside for dinner then head to the Holiday Inn Express La Mesa for the night. In the morning we will have breakfast at the hotel and then head to the high school at 7 a.m.
