Newport Harbor Frosh/Soph Field Hockey traveled to Harvard Westlake on Tuesday and won their game 1-0. Ali Bonds scored the only goal and goalkeeper Erika Nilsson had ten saves. Go Newport!
Newport Harbor Varsity & JV Field Hockey had their home game canceled due to rain, but it has been rescheduled for next Monday, October 10.
Today’s Newport Harbor Varsity & JV Field Hockey games have been canceled due to rain. We are trying to keep Davidson Field in good condition so we will not be playing today’s games. We will let you know when they will be rescheduled to as soon as possible. Varsity and JV players are to check in with their coaches to find out if they will be doing something in lieu of the game.
Newport Harbor Frosh/Soph Field Hockey will still meet at the anchor at 3:30 p.m. to travel to Harvard Westlake since their field is turf and will not be affected by the rain.

Congratulations to the Newport Harbor JV Field Hockey team for getting second place in the OC JV Field Hockey Invitational today!
It was a day of stroke competitions since all three of Newport’s games ended in 0-0 ties. Newport won its first game against Edison in sudden death strokes with a goal by Kristin Watanabe. Newport then faced Westminster in the second game and won 3-1 in regular stroke competition. Goals were scored by Maryn Call, Kristin Watanabe, and Alex Palmer and goalkeeper Cailynn Smethurst had three saves. The Sailors played Glendora in the championship game where they went into strokes after ending the game scoreless. Glendora won 2-1 in strokes. Newport’s Alex Palmer scored the only stroke for Newport and goalkeeper Cailynn Smethurst had three saves. Coach Kerrie Gates was proud of the team’s performance. Great job Newport!

Newport Harbor Varsity Field Hockey lost a hard fought defensive battle against Huntington Beach 2-0. The teams efforts were lead by seniors Sophie Evans, Courtney McIntosh, Nicole Zielinski, and Emmy Mitchell along with juniors Jill Messersmith and Jane Layton. Harbor has another home game Tuesday, October 4th against Marina at Davidson Field at 3:15 p.m.
Newport Harbor Junior Varsity Field Hockey ended their second league game against Huntington Beach in a scoreless tie.
Newport Harbor Varsity Field Hockey (7-2-2) hosted the first league game against Fountain Valley on Tuesday. The Sailors defeated Fountain Valley 6-3. Sophie Evans, Allie Pantoskey and Taury Hlinka each had two goals with a couple of assists by Courtney McIntosh and Jill Messersmith. Newport Harbor has their second league game Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Davidson Field against Huntington Beach. Please come out and cheer them on.
Newport Harbor JV Field Hockey’s league opener ended in 0-0 tie against Fountain Valley. They play their second league game on Wednesday against Huntington Beach at 4:45 p.m. on Davidson Field.
Newport Harbor Frosh/Soph Field Hockey traveled to Glendora High School. Kayla Bernard scored the only goal in the 1-1 tie game.
