Newport Harbor Varsity Field Hockey traveled to Chaminade High School on Tuesday. The Sailors advanced to a 6-0 record with a 2-0 win over the Eagles. The first goal was scored in the beginning of the second half by senior captain Cameron Dewan. The second goal secured the win in the last five seconds scored off a cross by Haley Martinez and deflected into the cage by senior captain Emily Vaughan. Goalkeepers Sarah Sheldon and Callie Kennedy each had one save.

Newport Harbor Junior Varsity Field Hockey worked hard to secure a 5-1 win after being tied 1-1 at one point in the game. Goals were scored by Lauren Dewan assisted by Sam Kerrigan, Sam Kerrigan, Kate Davison, Ameila Bruscia, and Adena Rothbard assist by Lauren Dewan. Goalkeeper Payton Steiner had two saves. Go Newport!

OC Invitational Schedule

Here are the game times for each team for the OC Invitational at Marina High School this Saturday, September 19:

Varsity – Semi-Finals vs. Bonita at 10:00 a.m.; Championship or Third Place Game at 1:00 p.m.

JV – Game 1 vs. Bonita at 9:00 a.m.; Game 2 vs. Edison at 11:00 a.m.

Frosh/Soph – Game 1 vs. Fountain Valley at 9:00 a.m.; Game 2 vs. Westminster at 2:00 p.m.

Newport Harbor Varsity Field Hockey competed in the Orange County Varsity Field Hockey Invitational on Saturday.

The Sailors faced the Lions from Westminster High School and won 7-0 with goals scored by Bridget Nolan (2), Mckenzie Porteous (2), Kendall Machado (2), and Katie Robinson, with assists by Mollie Crook and Sophie Schwarzenbach.

For the second game of pool play, Newport beat Edison High School 1-0 with a goal scored by Haley Martinez off of a short corner.

Newport will compete in the semi-finals this weekend against Bonita High School.

– On Monday coaches will be double checking all athletic clearance packets and will pass out an ‘open period’ letter that will need to be signed and returned right away.

Newport Harbor Varsity Field Hockey traveled to Moorpark College on Thursday to play Louisville High School. The Sailors advanced their record to 3-0 with a 11-0 win over the Royals. Goals were scored by Mollie Crook (2), Cameron Dewan (2), Mckenzie Porteous (3), Katie Robinson, Sophie Schwarzenbach, Kendall Machado, and Emily Lukosky.

Newport Harbor Frosh/Soph Field Hockey traveled to Edison High School and ended with a 0-0 tie. Go Newport!

Newport Harbor Varsity Field Hockey hosted Glendora High School on Tuesday and won 1-0 with a goal from the top of the circle by Mollie Crook. Goalkeeper Callie Kennedy had one save.

Newport Harbor Junior Varsity had an early goal by Kate Davison, assisted by Delaney Knipp, and another goal secured the win in the last moments of the game by Lauren Dewan.

Newport Harbor Frosh/Soph traveled to Huntington Beach High School to play their JV team. The sailors held a 0-0 game until the last few minutes where the Oilers found the back of the cage and ended with a 0-1 loss.
