VARSITY
Monday – Happy Labor Day! Get that summer homework finished and go to bed at decent time!
Tuesday – Home game at Huntington Beach High School at 3:15 vs. Harvard Westlake. Bus departs from NHHS Senior Parking Lot at 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday – Practice at 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Estancia High School
Thursday – Home game at Edison High School at 4:15 p.m. vs. Westlake HS. Bus departs from NHHS Senior Parking Lot at 2:45 p.m.
Friday – Practice at 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Bonita Creek. Bus departs from NHHS Senior Parking Lot at 1:40 p.m.

JUNIOR VARSITY

Saturday – Serra JV Tournament. Bracket games at 9:30 am, 12:10, and 1:30. Possible semi-final games at 3:40 or 4:30 p.m. Possible championship/consolation games are at 5:10 p.m. Tournament is at Serra High School at 5156 Santo Road, San Diego 92124.

FROSH/SOPH

VARSITY FIELD HOCKEY
Newport Harbor 1, Glendora 1

GLENDORA – Bridget Nolan scored off a rebound from a short corner in the 20th minute for the visiting Sailors in the nonleague season opener on Tuesday.

Delaney Knipp and Katie Hendrix were singled out for their defensive play by Sailors Coach Amanda Boyer.

The Tars return to action Sept. 6 against visiting Harvard-Westlake at Huntington Beach High.

Program Wide
– Uniforms were handed at out practice last Thursday. Uniform deposits will only be returned if the care and wash instructions are followed.
– Thank you to the parents who have signed up to volunteer for the program, if you haven’t yet, please – Our Annual Parent Party is Sunday, September 11. We will have an invitation up on the website this week.

Tuesday – First game of the season! Away game at Glendora High School at 3:15 pm. Bus departs at 1:00 pm from the NHHS Senior Parking Lot. Wear blue jersey and socks, but bring whites with you.

Thursday – Practice at 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. at Bonita Creek and Team Dinner hosted by the Nolan family.

Uniform Care

Newport Harbor Field Hockey uniforms were distributed on Thursday. Thank you to Nancy, Laura, Lori, Paula, and Buffi for all of your organization and help!

Please make sure to take good care of the uniform so that we can use them for many years to come. As a reminder, if there are any damages or the uniform is not returned, your $75 deposit will be forfeited. Here are the care instructions:

Dryfit Polo Shirt Instructions

  • Machine wash on cold
  • Do not use fabric softener
  • Do not bleach (if necessary, only use non-chlorine bleach)
  • Tumble dry on low
  • Do not iron (if necessary, use only cool iron)
  • DO NOT DRY CLEAN
  • Wash after each use, especially the white shirt, to decrease possibility of sweat stains

Kilt (Skirt) Instructions

  • Do not shorten the length of the skirt by cutting the material or sewing the hem
  • You may move the buttons by sewing them to a new location, other than that please do not alter the skirts
  • Machine wash on cold

Parent Meeting

The Fall 2016 Parent Meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 24 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be located in the Social Hall at Newport Harbor High School, which is the room to the left of the large anchor facing Irvine Avenue.

Please click here to download the form, fill out the bottom part, and bring everything to the parent meeting.

It is very important that one or both parents be present to represent their daughter. This will be a chance to meet some of the coaching staff, Booster Board, and other parents. There will also be an opportunity to sign up for team dinners, volunteer positions, purchase merchandise, and hear about the upcoming fall season.

We hope to see you there!

Parent Involvement

Welcome Families to Newport Harbor Field Hockey!

We’ve all heard the saying, it takes a village, and high school athletics are no different.  This season we are calling on all families to help out where you can.  Whether it’s hosting a team dinner, arranging a carpool, becoming a Team Parent or helping out with the banquet, we need everyone to participate to make this season a great one!

We have set up a Volunteer Website where you can review the positions needed and sign up.  Please take a look and get back to me right away on where you would like to give your time.  Volunteering not only enriches the program, it solidifies a bond with you and your daughter that is irreplaceable. Please take a few moments to see which volunteer position fits into your schedule.

Now that tryouts are finished you will see that the season moves quickly.  Many of the positions will need to be filled right away, specifically the role of Team Parent for both JV and Frosh/Soph.  If you are new to the organization, no worries! Volunteering is a great way to learn about the program and we are committed to giving you as much support as you need.
