Camp has begun!

Summer camp began yesterday and there was a big turnout for the ‘Newbies’. We are thrilled to see their excitement for learning the sport of field hockey.

Reminders: the student-athletes should be eating a good, healthy lunch (and breakfast!) and must bring water to camp.

A big thank you to Sue, Nancy, and Kathy for their check-in/registration help!

Grads & Home Field

Congratulations to all of the recent Newport Harbor High School graduates. Good job Class of 2011! You will be missed on the field in the fall, but hopefully found on the sidelines visiting and at the Alumni Game (July 30).

In other news, Newport Harbor Field Hockey has something exciting to share. This Fall 2011 season, the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams will host 90% of their home games on Davidson Field at Newport Harbor High School!! A big thank you to the NHHS Administration for making it happen. Go Newport!

Sacramento

Head Coach Amanda Boyer traveled to Sacramento this weekend to attend the 54th Annual California Coaches Association Coach of the Year Banquet. Amanda was presented with the Rookie Coach of the Year Award. She felt “it was an honor to represent Newport Harbor Field Hockey and to be amidst such an amazing group of high caliber coaches.” Congratulations to our Rookie Coach of the Year!

Huntington Beach HS Coach, Cathy Van Doornum, received Field Hockey Coach of the Year. The Sunset League was well represented!
