Unfortunately Edison had to cancel the Frosh/Soph game on Friday because they have soccer tryouts, but Newport Harbor Field Hockey will still hold a game – against ourselves! The girls will all get to play most of the game (each team will only have one sub!) and it will be fun to get them playing a game at Harper. Be sure to come out and cheer them on! The game will be at 3:30 p.m. at Harper.

Banquet Update
Our Banquet Committee has been planning away for the Newport Harbor Field Hockey Banquet on Thursday, November 17. Be sure to save the date and keep an eye out for the invitation in the mail!
The Stix Weekly
PROGRAM WIDE
– This is the last week of games and practice for Frosh/Soph & JV. There will still be a schedule on the Stix Weekly next week for both teams since they will still be enrolled in field hockey. Attendance will be taken, noted, and reported. Two days to note: Monday (10/31 @ 3:15 p.m.) – Watch Varsity Game & Tuesday (11/1 @ 1:30 p.m.) – Banquet Video Day.
VARSITY
Monday – Practice at 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and Team Dinner at the Conant Home.
Tuesday – Home Game vs. Edison at 3:15 p.m. Senior Day and ‘Play for the Cure’! Be at the field at 2:10 p.m. The Senior presentation will begin at 3:15 p.m. and fans wear pink for the Play for the Cure!
Wednesday – Practice at 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Thursday – Away Game vs. Westminster. Bus departs at 1:30 p.m.

Newport Harbor JV & Frosh/Soph Field Hockey traveled to La Mesa, CA this weekend to compete in the Highlander JV Tournament at Helix High School.

Pool Play Game 1: Tied 0-0 against NHHS Frosh/Soph.
Pool Play Game 2: Lost 0-1 against Westview.
Pool Play Game 3: Won 3-0 against El Capitan. Goals by Kaitlin Shedd, Sophie Templin and Hailey Oberst.
Pool Play Game 4: Won 2-0 against Valhalla. Goals by Katilin Shedd and Jenny Bergsma.
Semi-Final Game: Lost 0-2 against Scripps Ranch.

Pool Play Game 1: Tied 0-0 against NHHS JV.

Game Recap
Newport Harbor Varsity Field Hockey beat Marina 2-0 on Thursday. Goals were scored by Allie Pantoskey, assisted by Jill Messersmith, and the second goal was by Kirsten Rohan. Newport hosts Edison for it’s Play for the Cure Senior Game at 3:15 p.m.
Newport Harbor JV Field Hockey tied Marina 1-1 with the goal scored by Jennie Bergsma.
F/S & JV – San Diego
The Newport Harbor JV & Frosh/Soph Field Hockey teams are traveling to La Mesa, CA this weekend to compete in the JV Highlander Cup.
The girls must bring both uniforms, both sock colors, and all equipment needed for the games. They should also bring a lunch and snacks, or money to purchase something.
We will meet at the Harper School Parking Lot and depart at 6 p.m. We will stop in Oceanside for dinner then head to the Holiday Inn Express La Mesa for the night. In the morning we will have breakfast at the hotel and then head to the high school at 7 a.m.

JV game times are at 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 3 p.m. Depending on how the team does, playoffs will be at 4:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. with a championship game at 6:00 p.m.

Newport Harbor Varsity Field Hockey had a tough loss on Tuesday at Huntington Beach. The Sailors went into the half tied at 0-0, but the game ended 0-2. Newport (14-4-2) travels to Marina on Thursday.
Newport Harbor JV Field Hockey faced Huntington Beach and fell 0-1 in the second half due to a scored penalty stroke.
