***No prior experience is necessary to participate in camp and tryouts. The majority of players entering high school have not played field hockey before. The purpose of the summer camp is to teach the sport to athletes interested in trying out. We have an excellent coach to athlete ratio to make it the best possible atmosphere for learning.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incoming 9th Graders and New Players<\/strong>
July 22 \u2013 July 26 (Monday \u2013 Friday) AND July 29 \u2013 August 1 (Monday \u2013 Thursday)

Returning Players

Junior Highers (6th, 7th, or 8th graders for the 2019-2020 school year)

*NHHS Athletic Clearance is not required for Junior Highers, just signed waiver.

MUST Bring<\/strong>
<\/strong>Water, running shoes, mouth guard, & shin guards
<\/strong>*Returning players are to have LAFHA approved shin guards & goggles
Athletics Clearance Packets and waivers are required <\/em><\/strong>on the first day of camp.

Newport Harbor High School Field Hockey Try-Out Dates & Practice Start<\/strong>
<\/strong>August 2, 5, & 6; Times are TBA
*The Newport Harbor High School Field Hockey Tryouts are separate from the Newport Harbor Field Hockey Boosters Summer camp. Newport Harbor Field Hockey is a competitive program and spots are limited. No player, returning or new, is guaranteed a spot on any team. Student athletes are evaluated on attributes such as skill, speed, stamina, strength, progression, coach-ability, work ethic, attitude, commitment, character, and potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

***Practices for all three teams begin August 12.<\/strong>
Tentative Dates for Varsity Team Building Trip: August 12 \u2013 August 14.
**During the summer, times for practices for all three teams are TBA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
