Rain, Rain, Go Away

Due to rain, JV and Varsity games at Westminster have been canceled, as well as Frosh/Soph practice. Both fields are too soaked to play on. Rainy days and cancellation will always be on a case by case basis. Rain doesn’t always mean cancellation. Stay dry and hopefully we’ll see you tomorrow at Harper for our games vs. Marina!

Varsity – SD Info

The Highlander Cup in San Diego is coming quick! The Varsity team is heading down south for their second appearance and to defend the title at the Highlander Cup at Helix High School. The games will be on Friday, October 15 at 5:00 p.m. & Saturday, October 16 @ 8:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and with a chance of 3:15 or 4:15 p.m. (playoffs) and 5:30 p.m. (championship). We will need a parent drivers for transportation. Please let Amanda know if you would be willing to help drive.

Accommodations have been made for Friday night, October 15. The team will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express on Murray Drive in La Mesa. We have blocked off rooms for parents to make reservations. The reservation is under Newport Harbor Field Hockey and the rate is $93 per room. You will need to call Holiday Inn to reserve a room. Important Reminders

Important reminders:
– Car Wash money is due tomorrow. Each player is responsible for selling 10 tickets.
– The Car Wash is this Saturday at 8 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Each player must bring 2-4 towels for drying the cars.
– To play Club Field Hockey, each player MUST register by this Saturday, September 18 and check the box ‘unable to come’ to the tryout.
– Picture Day is next Wednesday for JV & Varsity, and on on Thursday for Frosh/Soph. Order forms will be distributed on Monday at practice and will available online.

Parent Meeting Prep

The Fall 2010 Parent Meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 25 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be located in the Social Hall at Newport Harbor High School (the room to the left of the big anchor facing Irvine Avenue).

Please download the Player Fees & Registration Form and either mail it to the Booster Treasurer, Nancy Rohan, or bring it to the parent meeting.

It is very important that one or both parents be present to represent their daughter. This will be a chance to meet the coaching staff, Booster Board, and other parents. There will also be an opportunity to sign up for team dinners and other volunteer positions, purchase merchandise, and hear about the upcoming fall season.

Get Geared Up for Season

A big congratulations and welcome to all of the new and returning field hockey players and their families! Season is rapidly approaching so we would like to give you some information regarding dates, field hockey gear, uniforms, website etc.

Save the Date | Car Wash Fundraiser!
Saturday, September 18 at St. Andrew’s. More information to come.

For season all players must have:
– navy blue socks and white socks to fit over shin guards
– blue spandex shorts
– colored mouth guards (they may not be clear or white)
– field hockey regulation shin guards (They can be purchased online. A lot of returning players have either the STX Contour shin guards (be sure to get Navy Blue or White – Go Newport!) at Sports Authority or STX Ricochet shin guards at Longstreth.)

We highly recommend that you sign up to receive email updates for the website. Click here or click the link ’email updates’ on the right side of the website and sign up. You must then respond to an email it automatically sends to verify your email address, and then you will be signed up and ready to go. – Practice begins on Monday, August 23 at 3 p.m.; Morning Conditioning begins on Tuesday, August 24 time TBA. There will be a detailed schedule of practice/conditioning dates & times posted online in the next week.
