Huntington Beach High School will host the third place game at 5:15 p.m. and the championship game at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday evening in the stadium.

League Champs

Congrats to both Newport Harbor Varsity and JV Field Hockey for earning Sunset League Championships!

Junior Varsity holds the Sunset League Championship this year for the fourth year in a row!

Varsity shares the Sunset League Championship as they ended in a tie with Huntington Beach. The Tournament of Champions begins on Monday. Newport Harbor will host Bonita High School at 3:00 p.m at Harper. Go Newport!

It’s Raining, It’s Pouring

Varsity & JV practices are canceled due to rain (and thunder and lightning). The girls will get together at their Team Dinner at the Barnard and Hancock homes. Tomorrow’s games will depend on the amount of rain we get tonight and tomorrow – we’ll keep you posted!

Good luck to Frosh/Soph as they travel to Moorpark to play Harvard Westlake on turf!

F/S @ Pure Barre

While Varsity and JV traveled to an away game, Frosh-Soph did some traveling of their own…to a private class at Pure Barre!

The girls learned what the Pure Barre method is all about, including short sets of repetitive motions that target certain muscle groups with the use of rubber balls, mats, resistance bands, and of course, a ballet barre. Amy Brown led our team through the one-hour session, and at the end, we all agreed that it was an incredible workout, and a great strength-training alternative to practice.

Thank you so much for having us in your studio, Pure Barre!

Attendance

The athletic office has asked us to report every absence, even if it is excused, to the attendance office since field hockey is a class for credit.

Any player who is absent from practice or a game will be marked absent so it is important that parents call the attendance office to excuse players from their ‘class period’ for field hockey if they are going to be absent so that they are not marked truant. Players must still notify coaches of any absences or conflicts, this is just an administrative detail with the school and does not eliminate anything from our normal field hockey program and team rules.

Please email us at newportharborfieldhockey@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Update for Rain

Frosh/Soph’s game is still on as of 10:00 this morning. Edison High School has a turf field so the rain does not affect the playability. The game will be canceled if the weather is deemed dangerous (pouring rain or lightning).

JV’s practice is on as usual – 2:30 p.m. and team dinner at the Rohan home.

Varsity normal practice at 2:30 p.m. and team dinner at the Pantoskey home.
