A Note from Grupe

Newport Harbor Field Hockey’s recent graduate, Lauren Grupe, sent us a note about her time so far at University of the Pacific.

“Hello! Just wanted to give a shout out to all my Sailor field hockey girls! Congratulations on your recent win! Keep up the great work! UOP has been an incredible experience so far. The field hockey team has become my family. We are together pretty much all the time and I love everyone. Whether we are having a team dinner or simply just practicing, we are always bonding and having the best time. College hockey is very time consuming and tons of hard work but its worth it because I love the sport. Playing Division I field hockey has been a great opportunity, and I strongly recommend playing at the college level to anyone who has a true passion for the sport. Good luck with your season and I wish the best to all of you!”

Cal/Layton & UOP/Grupe

Two of our Newport Harbor Field Hockey Alumni will begin their seasons this Friday! Coach Judy Schaefer and some current players are making the trip up to Cal Berkley’s Maxwell Field to watch their games. Good luck to both teams!

The two teams will face one another in a conference event on Saturday, September 18.

5th Annual Alumni Game

Thanks to all who came out for the Newport Harbor Field Hockey’s 5th Annual Alumni Game! We had a great turn out for the game – both players and fans! With a 2-0 win, the Alumni Team was victorious and ended the Current Players’ two-year winning streak. The Boosters made a great BBQ lunch for all – it was a great day! The Fifth Annual Field Hockey Alumni Game is coming up!
Saturday, July 31 – Harper Field at 10:30 a.m. | Game & BBQ Lunch

Players, get there at 10:00 a.m. for warm up, game starts at 10:30, and then there will be a BBQ in the parking lot afterward. Families and fans are welcome.

Alumni Players: $10 for the game, a NHHS FH Tank Top* & BBQ Lunch.
Current Players: $5 for BBQ Lunch
*while supplies/sizes last

Remember mouth guards, shin guards, and water!

Welcome Sasha & Kyle!

We have two new members of the Newport Harbor Field Hockey Coaching Staff! Both Sasha Grumman and Kyle McNichols are Newport Harbor Field Hockey Alumni and we are lucky to have them. Sasha will be coaching the Junior Varsity team and Kyle will be coaching the Frosh/Soph team.
