Spring Training Under Way

Spring Training has begun and the 2012-2013 season will be here before we know it!

On Thursday the goals were put together and the bin was organized! A big thank you to Jim Palmer for organizing and instructing the players.

A few notes on Spring Training:
– If a student-athlete is enrolled in Spring Training for academic credit, her absence must be excused with both Coach Amanda Boyer and the NHHS Attendance Office.
– We will not have Spring Training on Monday, May 28.

We have received quite a few inquiries from players who are interested in attending a field hockey summer camp in addition to our Newport Harbor Field Hockey Summer Camp. A Message from the President

Welcome NHHS Girls Field Hockey Parents and Boosters,

It is that time again! Spring training begins on Monday.  How quickly the 2012 Girls’ Field Hockey Season will be upon us.  Very exciting activities moving into the new season.  As the new Booster President,  I have some large shoes to fill with the legendary former Booster President, Jeff Chandler’s retirement.

For those Parents and Daughters who will be joining the Field Hockey family for the first time, you are in store for much fun and excitement.  For those veterans who will be returning, we look forward to another successful and memorable season.  All of our outstanding coaches will be back with us this year,  so we look forward to “Finishing Strong” in 2012.

It is through your generosity of time and contributions that helps us keep the Girls Field Hockey program as one of the premier sports activities at Newport Harbor High.  Please check the ‘Parents’ section of the website for different ways that you can volunteer or contribute, and to see some important dates to already be saving for the fall.

Jim Palmer has graciously joined the Board to handle all Field Operations.  If anyone is interested in helping with the fields during the season, please let me know.

Lastly, two of our key Board members will be retiring this year after multiple years of service.  We are indebted to their service and contributions.

Both Kathy Hancock, who has served as our Secretary, and Nancy Rohan as the Treasurer for the past 2 years, have done an incredible job as valuable Board Members.  If you are interested in joining the Girls Field Hockey Board as Secretary or Treasurer, please let us know.  We will arrange to have you shadow them during the season to ensure a smooth transition.  The heavy lifting has already been done because both of these ladies are incredibly organized and experienced.

That is it for now.  More to come as the season approaches.  We look forward to your participation and a fantastic experience for your daughters.  If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

John Nulty
Booster President
