Field Hockey Yoga

A big thank you to Kristin Storey for teaching a yoga class for the Newport Harbor Field Hockey girls yesterday! There was wide range of experience, from first timers to yogis doing crow pose. It was a fun afternoon of yoga!

Heyyy Rojo!

A big congratulations is owed to Lauren Rojas for her recent honor in the Daily Pilot for an athletic award! Newport Harbor Field Hockey will miss her dearly but hopefully she’ll be able to continue her field hockey career in some capacity at Brown University. Best of luck Lauren!

“Rojas, who excelled in field hockey and lacrosse, will attend Brown University in the fall. She helped the field hockey team win two straight Los Angeles Field Hockey Assn. Tournament of Champions titles. A team captain, and a 4.29 GPA-student, she was named to the All-Sunset League second team as a senior and a junior.”

Welcome Sasha & Kyle!

We have two new members of the Newport Harbor Field Hockey Coaching Staff! Both Sasha Grumman and Kyle McNichols are Newport Harbor Field Hockey Alumni and we are lucky to have them. Sasha will be coaching the Junior Varsity team and Kyle will be coaching the Frosh/Soph team. Read more about both coaches at the Coaches Page and be sure to give them a warm welcome back to the program!

Next Monday – Dr. Tischler

Next Monday (June 14), the Athletic Department has arranged for physicals to be done by Dr. Tischler and his colleagues at Newport Orthopedic Institute. A yearly physical is a mandatory part of the athletic clearance packet that you must turn in on the first day of Summer Camp. No appointment is necessary, just bring your completed physical forms from the Athletics Clearance Packet and payment of $25 per student to Newport Orthopedic Institute, 22 Corporate Plaza Drive, Ste. 150, Newport Beach, at 5:30 p.m (please do not show up before 5:00 p.m.).

*You may also choose to take the paperwork to a personal physician for the physical, but this must be completed by the first day of Summer Camp.

Cal Cup

Seventeen of Newport Harbor Field Hockey’s players were a part of the Mulligan Field Hockey Academy’s ‘Divots’ U16, U19, and Women’s Teams this past weekend at the 39th California Cup International Field Hockey Tournament in Moorpark, CA. There were 134 teams of all ages and levels – from 5 year old’s playing for their first season to the Girls Mexican National team – in attendance at Cal Cup. It sounded like a great experience and an amazing opportunity to play high level field hockey. Good work girls!
